The world champion had been in devastating form from Thursdays first runs, and he is suddenly a major force in this years Moto GP championship. Dani Pedrosa finished 2nd to take the championship lead from Rossi, who was absolutely brilliant under the circumstances. The Italian had made a rare mistake to crash on lap 1, dumping him into Randy de Puniet to take him out o! f the race, but he fought back with a bent handlebar and bent gear-lever, setting the 3rd fastest lap to finish 11th. the few points earned may prove crucial at the end of the series.
