Drive Headlines


South Africa's sensational swimmer Natalie Du Toit has done it again. She won yet another gold medal in the 200m Individual Medley at the Paralympics earlier today. South Africa currently have 12 medals overall, the team won 15 gold medals at the Athens Games in 2004.

Meanwhile, Professor at the Sports Science Institute, Tim Noakes, says South Africa has a lack of world class athletes. That's why our able-bodies Olympians couldn't perform at the level which our Paralympic athletes are currently performing at. Noakes says the likes of Oscar Pistorius, Natalie du Toit and Ernst van Dyk are world-class athletes and are raking in the gold medals at the Paralympics where as with the able-bodied athletes, that's been lacking. Noakes says South Africa need to produce more world beaters.

Vodacom Western Province coach, Allister Coetzee, says losing against the Valke at the weekend is not an option. Province need to win their remai! ning four games with bonus points if they want a chance of making the semi-finals. Points difference could also be a telling factor at the end of the round-robin stage. WP play the Valke, Boland Kavaliers, Griquas and the big clash with the Lions. Coetzee says they won't get caught with their pants down again.

Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson, is likely to unleash his new striker Dimitar Berbatov against Liverpool this weekend. A win will be vital for United because they have another tough away fixture against Chelsea next weekend. Berbatov is likely to be partnered by Wayne Rooney in front.

Lance Armstrong has proved in the space of 48 hours why he is still one of the biggest superstars of modern sport. When speculation surfaced that he was thinking of making a comeback to try and win an 8th Tour de france, the media were scrambling for the facts, and when Armstrong confirmed the following day that he was going! to be back in the saddle, interest in the next tour rocketed.!

Kimi Raikkonen will be driving on the absolute limit this weekend at the Italian GP at Monza, and he refuses to write off the championship. But teammate Felipe Massa says he's only concerned about Lewis Hamilton. At first glance there seems to be an interesting situation brewing inside the Ferrarri camp, with both drivers seemingly taking the team-leaders role, despite Massa being strongly placed to challenge Hamilton.
